Re: Pudendal nerve latency time in normal women via intravaginal stimulation.

چکیده
With the intention to provide more information about this rare and difficult disease, we communicate that the boy from the Case 3 underwent a right transfemoral amputation due to massive enlargement and walking inability in November 2006. In January 2007, he had a massive enterorrhagia probably related to the growth of the vascular tumor and involvement of the colon. Despite multiple transfusions and medical measures, stabilization was not achieved and he died before surgical procedure could be attempted. The patient of the Case 1 is a mulatto man, and not a black man as described. We wish to thank Dr. José Luis Borges de Mesquita who participated in the treatment of Case 5 and Dr. Antonio Marmo Lucon, who provided the data of the patient of the Case 1.

Pudendal nerve latency time in normal women via intravaginal stimulation.
INTRODUCTION & OBJECTIVES Studies of motor conduction for the efferent functional assessment of the pudendal nerve in women with pelvic dysfunctions have been conducted through researching distal motor latency times. The transrectal approach has been the classic approach for this electrophysiological examination. The objective of the present study is to verify the viability of the transvaginal ...
متن کاملNormal proximal and delayed distal conduction in the pudendal nerves of patients with idiopathic (neurogenic) faecal incontinence.
The latency of the response in the external anal sphincter muscle following transcutaneous stimulation of the cauda equina at the L1 vertebral level was measured in nine women with neurogenic faecal incontinence (mean 7.3 SD 0.7 ms) and 11 normal subjects (mean 5.6 SD 0.6 ms) (p = 0.01). There was no difference in conduction velocity between the L1 and L4 vertebral levels thus supporting the su...
متن کاملA Case of Pelvic Migraine
A 62-year-old woman presented with an 8-year history of chronic persisting pelvic pain. She described constant throbbing, stabbing vaginal pain. A pelvic floor neurophysiological assessment of the pudendal nerve was performed by performing a needle EMG to the left and right external anal sphincter assessing for insertional activity and recruitment pattern. A quantitative assessment of the motor...
متن کاملSlowed motor conduction in lumbosacral nerve roots in cauda equina lesions: a new diagnostic technique.
New techniques have been developed for the electrophysiological assessment of patients with suspected cauda equina lesions using transcutaneous spinal stimulation (500-1500 V: time constant 50 microseconds) to measure motor latencies to the external and sphincter and puborectalis muscles from L1 and L4 vertebral levels. These latencies represent motor conduction in the S3 and S4 motor roots of ...
متن کاملWords of wisdom: Re: Chronic pudendal neuromodulation: expanding available treatment options for refractory urologic symptoms.
AIMS Chronic pudendal nerve stimulation (CPNS) is a logical alternative particularly in those who fail sacral stimulation. We evaluated symptoms, complications, and satisfaction after CPNS. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed patients having a tined lead placed at the pudendal nerve via the ischial-rectal approach. Demographics, history, complications, and pre-implant voiding diary data were ...
